The Odds and Ends of Spring 2017

It's a little hard to believe that it is already April and one-fourth of the year is over.  What happens to the weeks?? It has been a wonderful year so far and here are some highlights of the past couple of months!

We decided that, as one of our home projects this year, we would remodel our shower as it badly needed an update.  Here are the "before" photos:

 Here are some "during" photos:

He made me a corner bench!

Love the bench!

A tile shower is new for us but we are really liking it.

So excited about this bench!
Almost done!
And finally, the "after" photos:
My favorite thing is how the clothes in our closet reflect in the shower door!!

There are a couple things that didn't turn out like I expected but for the most part, it's pretty cool! It is actually just wonderful having a new shower!

The kids started swimming early again this year.  The water is still too cold for me but they don't seem to care.
This was February!

They actually didn't last long before they wanted the warmth of the sun.

Josh returned from Mexico with some cool stuff!

I felt so hot on this day that I decided to get in with them!  It took 20 minutes to get this far in.  I finally did drop down to my shoulders and got out 2 seconds later!

Not quite all the way in.
Clark became a teenager in March, happy birthday Clark!
My niece, Hannah, is part of the San Diego Youth Symphony and they were performing last weekend so we drove out and spent the weekend in beautiful San Diego.  The weather was perfect and we had a great time seeing some of the sights. On Saturday, my brother, Mike, took us out on his boat.
This kind of reminds me of the opening credits of Gilligan's Island when they are headed out for their 3-hour tour.  Fortunately for us, the weather never "started getting rough."

Morgan and me!
It was a beautiful day at San Diego Harbor!

Kicking back and ready to go.
This is the good life!
Very attentive driver....
...uh, wait, watch where you're going!

Out to the open sea.

Yes, I am glamorous, I know. I was so grateful for this hat...thanks Hope!

Yep, this is the good life alright.
USS Midway.
The sailor comes home....
USS Midway up close.

Having fun!
This is where we stopped for lunch.  It was great food....
...and a really great view!

Morgan is on the debate team and is auditioning to play the piano for the Jazz band AND has earned a trip to Washington DC this summer where she will interview a Congressman or Senator....AMAZING!!
Random photo of a totally cute couple.

This seal chatted with us for a bit as we drove by.

Pirate ship that tried to overtake us but we outran it.
These seals weren't interested in interrupting their nap!

Change in drivers.
Beautiful Coronado Bay.

Enjoying a beautiful day.
Other than a few panicky moments when we were out in the ocean jumping waves, it was a great day! And yes, I was the only one panicking, as usual.  Thanks Mike and Hope for a fun adventure!!

The next day we watched an amazing performance by the San Diego Youth Symphony wind ensemble.  Hannah had both her flute and her piccolo on her lap and she was going back and forth between the two, sometimes during the same song!  She was AMAZING!!

Here is a video of Hannah's piccolo solo.  Thanks, Morgan, for being on the ball with the camera!

Beautiful job Hannah!
Thanks for a great weekend guys!
In between all the fun activities we watched another amazing General Conference.  We drove home Monday morning and are back in the swing of normal life. I am working on a paper for my class and Scott is very busy with work right now.  I was able to harvest my potatoes that I planted in January and they turned out great!  They were beautiful and tasted good too.
And there they are, 3 months work for two meals! I'm not sure about this gardening stuff.
There has been tons of beautiful red flowers everywhere during my morning walks...
...we don't get much of this down here so when we have blossoms like this they really stand out.  Happy spring!
It's been a fun couple of months.  We're looking forward to Grandma Klundt's visit and a trip to Montana in May! So stay tuned....
